E-Mobility Testimonials

What our electric truck operators are saying.

United Utilities
United Utilities

'We took ownership of 4 x Volvo FH 6 x 2 E HGVs during September and October of 2024 following extensive collaborative work with members of the United Utilities Bioresource Logistics team and Thomas Hardie designing the vehicle spec, livery, tipper trailer dimensions, connections, functionality, and other bespoke elements which aided our operation. We have deployed the vehicles in transporting sludge cake between our operational production facilities for digestion and processing, we then harness the gas from the sludge cake digestion and generate heat and electricity through a number of Combined Heat and Power engines on site. This sustainable electricity source is then used to charge the E HGVs.

It is safe to say that the response from our drivers to the vehicles has been fantastic, the support and additional training our drivers received from Volvo/Thomas Hardie ensured that the drivers were confident from the outset and could really look to optimise the regeneration and really test the vehicles in our application.

Edge Transport

Our electric truck isn't just good for the environment; it's a pleasure to drive. It signals our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint over time and embracing cleaner, greener vehicle solutions.

Weighing in at a whopping 2,000kg, the onboard batteries provide a substantial186-mile range on a single charge, more than enough to handle our local collections and deliveries.

Since its introduction the feedback on the new electric truck has been overwhelmingly positive. Our drivers love its quiet, comfortable ride, whilst our customers appreciate our commitment to integrate sustainable solutions into our operation.

Bowker Group
Bowker Transport

The electric vehicle represents the latest stride in Bowker's ongoing efforts to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. This follows their successful transition to running equipment at their Droitwich site on HVO fuel, which has achieved a remarkable 90% reduction in emissions

compared to diesel.

Additionally, Bowker is now empowering customers to track their scope 3 emissions, providing visibility into the carbon impact of their goods across Bowker's operations.

Kirkby Skips

Peter Groves, Director at Kirkby Skips Ltd, says: "As a company we are always looking for ways to reduce our carbon emissions, while also helping our customers achieve their Net Zero targets.

"The FE Electrics are ideal for our operations.

We initially loaned the demonstrator for a week and during that time it showed quite clearly that the range would be absolutely no issue, with our daily operations comfortably handled on one charge.

The drivers were all very complimentary about the handling and performance too, and they are obviously far quieter to drive than the diesels they replace.

The new additions operate 10 hours a day, six days a week, and are expected to clock up in the region of 45,000 km per year."

Paul Brimelow, Fleet Engineer said,

"The delivery of our first electric vehicle represented a real milestone for us, and we're thankful to Thomas Hardie for their support throughout the process of adding the Volvo FE to our fleet.

"We were very impressed with the vehicle's performance during its initial trial, meaning it's now integrated within our Palletline fleet where it's being used for the many shorter, more local journeys we make."

Kinaxia

"the tractor unit will reduce delivery emissions for Vaillant by more than 21,600kg CO2e a year.

Simon Nelson, managing director of Kinaxia's contract logistics operations, said: "We announced at the start of the year that we would be investing further in sustainability measures, and this latest electric vehicle sits alongside other recent initiatives, including our greater use of technology and our K-Link distribution network which reduces delivery miles and emissions for customers.

"This upgrade supports Vaillant's goal to halve its carbon emissions by 2030 and there are great synergies between both businesses, as we drive decarbonisation of our customer supply chains and Vaillant supports the decarbonisation of home heating through the design and manufacture of low-carbon systems."

"Partnering with Kinaxia and Volvo has allowed us all to work together with a shared sustainability vision. We see this as the first of many electric vehicles yet to be introduced into our fleet."
